Waterville Valley New Hampshire wedding
This wedding at Waterville Valley Conference & Event Center was a great example of how a cohesive venue layout can dictate the energy of the day. Located at 56 Packard’s Rd in New Hampshire, this spot isn’t just a room; it’s a campus that lets a wedding move through different “chapters” without anyone having to move their car.
Shauna and Nick’s day utilized three distinct areas of the property, all within a five-minute walk of each other, which kept the momentum high from the ceremony through the last song.
The Ceremony: The Pergola
The ceremony took place at the outdoor pergola, an area that provides that classic White Mountains backdrop without the logistical headache of a remote trailhead. For this setup, we went with a completely wireless, battery-operated audio system at the arbor. It kept the visual clean, no cables running across the grass, and ensured the vows were heard clearly with a wireless handheld microphone.
Cocktail Hoour: The Speakeasy
Following the ceremony, the group moved to the venue’s Speakeasy for cocktail hour. This is one of the more unique features of Waterville Valley; it’s a dedicated space that feels completely separate from the formal reception area. It gave Shauna and Nick a chance to duck away for a few private moments while their 130 guests transitioned into a more relaxed, lounge-style environment.
The Reception: Main Tent
The main event took place under the tent, which is where the “mountain-elegant” vibe really hits. Because the tent is the focal point of the evening, we coordinated a specific timeline to keep the formalities from dragging:
- The Introductions: We kept the energy up by introducing the wedding party first, followed by the parents, leading right into Shauna and Nick’s entrance.
- The Welcome: Nick took the lead with a brief welcome speech before the dinner service began. It’s a smart move; it acknowledges the guests early so they can relax and eat.
- The Toasts: We saved the toasts for the end of dinner. Shauna’s brother, Jake, handled the final toast of the night, which transitioned perfectly into the opening of the dance floor.

Logistics and Timing
Waterville Valley is a “park and stay” kind of venue. With a two-hour shuttle service running between the local hotels and the ceremony site, guests didn’t have to worry about navigating mountain roads after dark.
For the couple, the focus was on a “no-stress” morning. We were on-site by 11:00 AM to have all three locations (Ceremony, Speakeasy, and Tent) fully tech-checked and ready well before the 4:00 PM start time. This allowed Shauna and Nick to skip a “first look” and instead focus on the ceremony and their private vows during the transition to the cocktail hour.
Venue Breakdown:
- Ceremony: Pergola (Wireless/Battery Audio recommended).
- Cocktails: The Speakeasy (Separate from the main tent).
- Reception: The Main Tent (Capacity for 130+ comfortably).
- Lodging: On-site/Walking distance with shuttle support.
